Terrazzo Floors - Polishing and Maintenance
Terrazzo is a man made flooring product that is formed by creating a cement base. Once the cement is smoothed over whilst still wet, the surface is embedded with colourful stones or marble chips.
The final step in preparing terrazzo floors involves cleaning and sealing the surface. After the polishing is completed, any residue is removed from the surface and several layers of sealant are applied. Once the sealants have dried the floor is buffed with high speed rotary machines.  Terrazzo can also be naturally polished with diamonds that eliminates periodical strip and seal methods completely.

Marble Floor Polishing
Marble is a non foliated metamorphic rock resulting from the metamorphism of limestone. It is used for mainly sculptures and building materials such as floor tiles, wall tiles, bench tops etc.

The word marble is colloquially used to refer to stone that is capable of accepting high polish. Marble like terrazzo can also be polished with sealants.

Although marble is a natural stone, natural diamond polishing is the preferred technique. This technique results in a gloss that customers can choose from and eliminates periodical maintenance providing a glossy and scratch resistant product.

Vinyl Floor Cleaning
Vinyl is a synthetic man-made material. It is a type of plastic first invented in 1920 by scientists. It has become a cheaper alternative for floor decorating. Vinyl is resistant to moisture and humidity and can be manufactured in several colours. The product is environmentally friendly and can be recycled. Similar to natural and man made stone, vinyl is commonly strip and sealed to give it gloss and protection. Natural diamond polishing of vinyl, although not common can give great results.

Diamond & Natural Polishing
This technique is performed with abrasive discs covered with microns of diamonds available in different grits, they are able to remove superficial scratches, clean and restore the original shine to the stone floors. Customers can choose the level of shine they request.

Initially the floor is cut back until the level of smoothness is achieved. Next is the intermediate polishing process and finally the polishing process until the desired level of gloss is present. It is advisable to seal the floor with a protection sealer to avoid any stains penetrating the stone for long term care.

Granite Floor Polishing
Granite is formed from liquid magma and is found deep within the earth. Rocks such as granite slowly move closer to the earth’s surface with tectonic plate movement. Granite is fairly well distributed throughout the world.

Due to its natural hardness compared with other stones such as marble, it is virtually impossible to scratch, thus customers often choose granite for bench tops and other building products. Most maintenance contractors have trouble in polishing and maintaining colourful granite. Strip and sealing together with diamond polishing would be the most cost efficient.
